John Scott Martin, RBSA, FCSD, FRSA was born in Nottingham in 1943 and studied at the Nottingham College of Art in the 1960's.  His work is inspired by a fascination for boats, from the beautiful ocean going yachts to the smaller sail such as Thames Barges and fishing boats.  Although his paintings illustrate an event in time he tries to communicate personal feelings of light atmosphere and weather.  He has exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, Royal West of England Academy, Royal Society of Marine Artists, The Mall Galleries, London, and many others
