GILLIAN HEAL trained at
the Byam Shaw School in London. Life took her abroad to Aden and
Beirut where she achieved success with exhibitions and commissions.
She eventually moved to Devon where she became a toy designer, co-founder
of Halfpenny Houses. This led to writing and illustrating children's
books for a company in America. Since retiring she has returned to
her first love, painting - playing with light and colour. She has
been influenced by Bonnard and Redpath, both brimming with unusual colour,
good drawing and a sort of altered naturalness. |
